Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Tell me again S&D how our careers are

Time for internal job postings. If the result of S&D managing our careers is we have no internal talent to lead upstream or LCS and that GM does a better job of training people then it is far past time to get rid of S&D.

GM of all places. Would you EVER buy a piece of sh-t vehicle from GM? The company has been a joke as long as I have been alive. How many of you are all in on GM stock? Ever see GM listed as an innovative or successful company or a place people want to work?

Solid sign of what kind of utter trash the internal talent development system percolates. The real question you should be asking yourself as an internally developed exec here is how you are so utterly useless that you can’t compete with DW’s external hires. Fortunately none of them are introspective enough to ask themselves that as I’m not sure the money would be much consolation for the answers they’d discover

The EM HiPo advancement system is:

  1. Choose a person for advancement before any leadership trait has been demonstrated
  1. Place the chosen HiPos into a series of jobs that the HiPo does not understand and cannot lead
  1. Protect the HiPos from any challenging positions that has any potential for failure.
  1. If the HiPos show any signs of incompetence, cover it up and forbid mention in ranking meetings because admitting to choosing a bad HiPo is forbidden.
  1. Recruit Executives from outside because steps 1 through 4 were unsuccessful.

For the majority of employees there is no advancement even if you have talent. Only the chosen few will succeed and ascend the ranks.There is no career development at exxon mobil. There is only stagnation and mundane boring work for us the proles.The party members have all the growth and special benefits. Its like working in the apple commercial parody of 1984. 1984 is the world we are in at exxon. exxon should have a new speak dictionary. People that were fired or spoke the truth are erased from history. I am looking for Goldstein's book. I was told not to talk about the past or the unfairness I have seen and experienced. The supervisor said it would affect my ranking. They don t want the new hires to know what's coming. They want to fool them into believing they have a chance and the system is fair. It is not trust me. We are stuck in 1984 at exxon mobil. Exxon is an outdated dinosaur that will go extinct. there needs to be a complete shake up and revamp of the company from the top to the bottom. Get rid of favorites and relatives. Fire all of the incompetent employees that only know how to kiss a ss and do no actual work. Elon musk would be sickened by the employees we have and most would terminated.

I’m an S&D Manager, I’ve been told my job is:

  1. Stewarding HiPo careers
  2. Promoting BTC employees

The rest of you are just availability and timing variables. We are told, explicitly, not to care about placing you.
