I’m pretty sure the BoD could find a competent outside hire that would take the job for 20mm/year. You know, someone with a vision of how to grow the company beyond cost cuts and dispositions. Right now we are on the path of preparing ourselves for a takeover by XOM.

5 year spread in stock performance between XOM and CVX is 32% with Chevron up 37% and Exxon up 69%. That is a lot of money over 5 years. Divergence is 2023 onward. Clearly investors have concerns regarding Chevron strategy and performance.

As long as the stock price remains stable and the dividend is paid on time, MW has nothing to worry about. The BOD doesn't care how many employees CVX has. In fact, they fewer the better so they don't have to pay all those burden costs.
