Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Upstream President is a former banker who has worked in oil and gas for 2 years

Even HiPo’s are sc--wed. Check outlet our new Upstream President! Promote from within is dead. Probably a good idea considering we have quit investing in career growth of our employees. Engineering is no longer valued. Anyone know what his bachelors degree is in? He worked as an investment banker and then in auto industry. Clearly management sees us engineers as useless. Same for project managers. You can all be replaced with Indians.

Dan has not been in Oil and Gas 2 years.

Dan has been in Low Carbon Solutions thinking about maybe executing some non economic subsidy projects in the future.

Dan has zero experience in Upstream.

My dog has visited more Upstream facilities than Dan. And could run them better.

I would like to see Dan’s SDA. What is he a level 4 in? Oh yeah. None of that matters. It is just a farce played to make people think they have a chance at career growth.

GM was a key experience; banking a key skillset required.

bachelor of management studies From a New Zealand university where he grew up then banking

GM and Cruise? Two names associated with successful prosperity right?

Mergers, acquisitions, bankruptcy restructuring. Just what the upstream needs right. Get ready for a whole new level of fu-kery.

Stunning.

I was hoping in all honesty for a dynamic, experienced leader who would provide some a**- kicking energy to a company that is starting to circle the drain.
Wrong again!

My prediction is for a few years they will be able to please Wall Street and enrich themselves wildly. Then like Dagny Taggart those holding the whole sh-tshow together will have enough and the brilliant choices of these leaders will result in the stalled Comet being hit by a munitions Train in a tunnel. Somehow they will all jump ship just in time paying themselves before they exit and destroying another one off America’s once great companies. Miss Lee Raymond yet?

Has he already started bringing in his friends to fill the other executive jobs? That is usually what happens next. Sorry hipos

Sneakers! Shows just how clueless he is about our industry. He is going to get people ki-led with his ki-ler instinct and cost cutting and outsourcing

Maybe there will be less red tape in the upstream. He did post photos of his Baytown site visit in sneakers back in the early days

This should be a total train wreck nightmare. Maybe we are getting ready to sell off the upstream. Or buy Chevron? Why else would we need an investment banker as President.

What did he accomplish for LCS? Is he the first upstream president with 0 upstream experience? His replacement for LCS seems to be from the same automotive company and joined EM in 2024. They’re probably good friends.

I’m guessing he saw the writing on the wall and LCS is dead. Tell me which exactly of his too many to count achievements at LCS warrant him getting this job over those who have been working for decades to be considered.

The guy is constantly posting on LinkedIn. Maybe that is what we pay presidents to do now. If so may I suggest we hire a bikini babe.

Anyone know this guy? His ki-ler instinct comment sounds like an a$$hole. Yes new guy you know all of us and we are all the same. Please tell me how else you can stereotype me based on your extensive interaction with me.

I wonder how career ExxonMobil executives are feeling right now. Put in the time and made the sacrifices. Passed over for outside hire who was apparently given better opportunities to develop himself at banks and car companies. Better development than ExxonMobil’s can offer their own high potential employees. Clearly management sees us all as dead wood with nothing to contribute who should be replaced by Indians and outside talent.

Hope he repeats the speech to the Upstream that he gave to LCS when he took over as President. “You all lack ki-ler instinct”

Interesting choice given that upstream is portfolio / opportunity challenged right now. Would think that an experienced hand at the wheel would be much better

“ Some might think that moving from Low Carbon Solutions to Upstream is surprising, but it’s not “

No what I find strange is a finance guy with two years in low carbon solutions and zero experience in oil and gas is now President
