From everything I've seen CES Results are awful this year. Themes like high stress and burnout, tired of changes and layoffs and a demand for ELT to take accountability for their failures. For those in management circles what is being said about this all? Does anyone even care in management?

Results were basically: I like my team lead but don’t trust upper management or their “strategies”. So nothing we didn’t know.
The direct line managers will all be blamed for poor results even if the criticism is directed at management levels above them. The direct line will all be criticized, er coached, publicly and told to create an action plan for improving working conditions. Upper management considers their action done patting themselves on the back for improving the minion, er employee, experience. Rinse and repeat in 6 months.
If all companies are like this, sounds like we have a flawed system no? Who would have thought..
Worked hard at Chevron and got canned for being too old.
Went to work elsewhere., then found my dream job. Work is not any harder, but no tolerance for "Chevron Way" B.s, Other companies focus on getting it done, not sloganeering. And they really don't care about DEI.
Waste of time. I stopped doing the survey as it’s a waste of time. Nothing changes and used for data collection. And create charts and graphs no one cares about. I’ll do whatever I can to bo-b the participating metrics they want
@1odw, No you're completely and verifiably wrong. Those of us who have actually worked for other majors can confirm. Chevron is a cake walk compared to elsewhere. Get let go from CVX and feel free to try to play out the type of behavior that you have been accustomed to here at your own peril. You've been warned.
@1sqe and @pkw absolutely correct. I heard one mid-level manager refer to the people who submitted negative CES as "whiners". Most managers of that level have never gotten dirt under their fingernails, and have lived sheltered lives as Chevron high-pots. No wonder they're clueless as to what is really going on.
CES results have historically been awful. Management and HR rig the questions and massage the results then pat themselves on the back for their great stewardship. Meanwhile, Chevron continues to crumble.
The people who keep saying “you have no idea how good you have it” clearly have never worked anywhere else.
They knew it was going to be bad. Remember, we have our culture which is the CVX Way and then our real culture which is showing hard.
Management views those that complain as disgruntled employees who will be taken care of during the layoff.
I have sat in these management meetings. They believe that people who complain are just disgruntled employees. Layoffs are coming. In their way of thinking, the rot is being let go.
Management meetings I attended were along the lines of "staff seem unsettled this year so it will be a transition and let's see if the responses don't improve in a year or two"
One thing is sure, these surveys are not anonymous. I can rely on lf.com privacy but not the CES.
All I can say is I raked Mgmt over the coals! If they are coming for my job next year, I might as well get them first. You should do the same.
CES has absolutely no impact on any strategy or decisions. There only real purpose is to give you the satisfaction that you are being heard even thought you are also being ignored. If you're looking for change CES will not do it. It will however result in lots of company money transferred to BCG to circle around it.
Results are abysmal. Opened some eyes, but also a bit of a shrug and “you’ll have that” attitude from the ELT. As far as they’re concerned, the little people are the problem and this bad tasting medicine is here to do magic. And they care about results, but only so much. Like everything with them, anything that’s a complex long term fix is ignored in favor of “quick wins” that do nothing.
Stress and burnout can be managed. Change is ALWAYS inevitable and if you have been around for some years you just know how to roll with it. I have heard of “supposed” layoffs but have not heard of anyone actually being laid off yet. Until it happens it is just rumor. Take it one day at a time and do the best you can and also gain as much experience and knowledge in case there are layoffs and you will be able to move on and not miss a step!
no such thing as burn out
we are no1 in WLB
To me it seems the place is full of snowflakes, 😩. You expect me to work for my pay…
You have no idea how good you have it.
