Phone job

Is being on the phone the worst job at Schwab or is there anything worse? The leadership is also terrible

I use to have an account with Schwab and I thought customer service was very nice. The rep even worked hard to save the account even though it was one of the smaller accounts out there. My beef was not about the service but I wanted to follow the account manager that involuntarily "resigned" from Schwab. Also, it is no secret how Schwab treats their employees and I figured if I could put my money somewhere, it would not be Schwab. I strongly believe that bad karma from institution affects the money it handles. I know not every money management firm is perfect, but Schwab is especially evil and seems proud of it.

I’d rather scrub the toilets in the call center than be on the phones all day. Scrubbing away the coffee induced diarrhea stuck on the edges.

Try being the leader of a schwab phone rep. You have to remind them daily to do simple tasks, clock in, change your phone status, how to fill out a timesheet. These are full fledge adults, Some of thm messaging their manager 20+ times . Day, for every small thing.

Its hilarious PL are paid xxxx a year to baby sit. Grown humans. It’s like coaching toddlers: it’s an absolute joke, grow up! Learn how to follow a schedule. Have a job, you applied to work at a company that puts clients first, so put the client first!

This is not rocket science, I am always amazed at the amount of ppl that come to work at Schwab and have never had an account there, its free.

I work in the Schwab cafeteria. That is the worst job here. Well there are janitors, that need to clean up the toilets and urinals. So I'm in the second to worst job. If only I could work at a desk talking on the phone all day.........

Respectfully, though, I think your cafeteria job would consist of the same circumstances anywhere you work. OP is specifically asking for a comparison between the phone desk jobs and the non-phone desk jobs at Schwab. He's not asking about non-desk jobs.

Not just the phone jobs, the jobs all through corporate at Schwab deals with toxic behavior from leadership, and need to convert into yes-men in order to survive. Suggestions for change are not welcome from the bottom up, they are seen as attacks. Also, they don't pay attention to each employee's unique strengths to allow them to refine those skills and specialize, they try to make generalists out of everyone so that they can more easily stuff them with overwork from all sources (namely the next person/people who get laid off). They'll call it expanding your opportunity to grow and learn new skills, but it is really for the bottom line, they don't really care about what you are truly passionate about. Once you graduate from the phones, I would suggest moving to another company, the other areas of corporate are only more toxic.

I worked the phones for several years. Absolutely worst job at Schwab. I would rather serve a 1 year prison sentence than be a phone rep for 5 years. I’m convinced my personal he-l would be forever being stuck on the phones. If you are fresh out of college it’s not a horrible gig but you must have a plan to get out. I’ve seen many coworkers get stuck in the call center and hate their lives. So work the phones for like 1 - 1.5 years then switch to a different role. For example I switched to data analytics. Also the pay caps out pretty quick in the call center.
