Thread regarding Rockwell Automation Inc. layoffs

Do layoffs happen often?

I'm new to Rockwell, having started just three months ago, and it's a bit unnerving that I already have to stress over layoffs. Is this something I should expect to worry about regularly, or is it more of an occasional, once-a-year thing, or, hopefully, even rarer?

You see many "older" Rockwell employees here because this WAS an amazing place to work. Rockwell had leadership that skillfully managed the company through cyclical downturns.

Look around. Tech companies across the board are doing great.

In over 33 years in the company, I've never seen 6-7 straight quarters of layoffs and fiscal constraint like we've seen so far. That is in a bull market where other companies are being successful. Remember this started in 2023 - not this fiscal year.

Ask yourself, what is Rockwell doing wrong?

If things are this bad right now, wait until there is a real economic crisis going on.

I was fired twice in the same year at Rockwell and in both cases my manager evaluated me as “exceeds expectation” which only 5% achieved

More so now under Blake and new management as he and his team don’t know how to tactically run the business. When Keith was in charge, it was hard to hire but we rarely had layoffs except in exceptional external events. Blake and co are just incompetent.

Rockwell has a long history of layoffs, at least in my area. This is nothing new. I've known many people over past 20+ years get laid off.

Even so, I took a job there recently. Because, most companies in my area are just as bad with lower pay. And to Rockwell's credit, you still see many older engineers working there.

Yes, I was only there less than a year and got laid off. The business turned quickly and I was highly paid so it made sense to put me on the list. Current leadership is very weak so the business will continue to decline and more layoffs will happen.

Here is the unfortunate reality: You joined a company that is on the steady decline and will continue to cut costs to improve profits. Lay offs will most likely be a part of that. I unfortunately suggest leaving if you can find something more stable.
