Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I spent most of my Thanksgiving stuck scrolling through job listings

I already spend most of my weekends doing the same thing. Every free moment I have is spent desperately hoping to find something better. It's hard to believe there was a time when I thought working for Cisco was my dream job.

It’s not a Cisco problem. Take a look in the mirror.

Kind of a loser comment. Cisco has predicted less than inflation level growth over a three year period, it's losing business to its competitors, quarterly revenue and earnings growth year over year are significantly negative and almost 24 years of more than annual layoffs is something its own management said is a sign of failed leadership.

Cisco isn't a bad place for everyone, but it is a bad place for many. Best of luck to those in the latter camp who realize it and are willing to work to better their career. We'll continue to see the rest of you here complaining about Cisco's "first" layoff every three months.

Kind of a loser comment. Good luck finding a job with that “whoa with me” attitude. It’s not a Cisco problem. Take a look in the mirror.

You won’t find a job cold applying for a job. You do it by networking and talking to people.

Make sure to have or quickly build skills for which other companies will pay as well, even if you never used them at Cisco. You don't want the kind of frustration people express here to pop out in an interview so practice putting a positive spin even on the parts that didn't work and how you did or would fix them.

Those people you talk with will probably lift your spirits too.

Ehh, if you weren't scrolling job postings, you'd be scrolling something else equally useless. You're not serious about finding another job. You're addicted to misery and being a victim.

Stop dooming and do something/anything productive.

Wow. So your saying you can't find something better. Huh. Well If the job is better than what is out there maybe you should change your perception. Or take a job that is not as good. Idk. You choose
