Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

Stock is up. It’s all going better?

So the stock is (almost) back in double figures. And we managed to pass a text message over the decrepit ISAT L-band network in (wait for it) Saudi Arabia. Yay.

Meanwhile, one of our heroic L3s gets spotted on a VRP leavers night out in Europe looking “tired and emotional” and openly sharing there is no line of sight for VSAT to get out of the mess it is in.

Happy Thanksgiving, & on the D2D optimism have a Google search on the latest developments at Starlink, ASTSpacemobile, Spire Global, Lynk Global, Intuitive Machines etc.

And this guy is fun to follow => https://www.linkedin.com/posts/michaeldeconinck_snapdragon-activity-7267519553520209921-dzM4?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_ios

Nope. He has to have something to tinker with in his semi retirement.

Let’s hope MD has privately briefed the PE funds that he is departing…hence the rally back to the previous, slightly-slower rate of stock price decline

This site was created by short sellers to spread FUD and spin their narrative, leave “employee accounts”, and bait for new information. Stock price goes up and all sorts of theories come out on why things are so bad and how L-band is inadequate. Keep squirming or cover and get lost

Stock is not up.Down from last month, last quarter, last year, last decade, last century.

People in years' past all-hands would complain about the stock price being "low" at $30/share. Imagine how they feel now.

MD did the Inmarsat deal for their Lband spectrum. Nothing else mattered to him. His theory is that D2D will win on amount of spectrum applied to that market. But nobody cares when he's 5 years behind SpaceX, AST, etc. They will have this market wrapped up with their (checks notes) more consumer friendly reuse of terrrestrial cellular bands which can address every handset that exists today instead of waiting for new handsets with the new Lband 3GPP stack. Oh well, leave it to Viasat to look at a market then take the absolute hardest path around the block to get there.

I don’t understand how VSAT thinks L band offers an opportunity for D2D?
The competitors are launching thousands of satellites to provide services including D2D, and some competitors are launching hundreds of satellites dedicated to D2D.
Yet here we are offering to provide D2D service via a past-end-of-life L Band network which is famous only for being hopelessly over subscribed and congested.
Really? This sounds a lot time the b@llsh@t former ISAT propaganda around an amazing concept called “Orchestra”. Fact check that!

Hey I think I was at that (one of many) VRP leaving parties here in London.
But surely you mean L2?
Our local leader in Finsbury was extremely lubricated and loose lipped on Viasats future fortunes or lack thereof.
Oh well, to drinks and straight talk. Cheers!
