Thread regarding Cargill layoffs

Guess I better expedite my food truck plans

I guess today is the time to plan for future self employed endeavors and put Cargill on the wayside! A lot of intrinsic thoughts arise from times like these.

I got 2 weeks for every year of employment plus Health insurance $ to cover this same time frame, plus unpaid PTO. Payroll id behind a week so I got one week of payroll after my termination date. This is paid in one lump sum (through payroll) so it will be taxed just like a bonus. I only got 30 days notice but I heard 60 days is more typical. I had another external job offer within a week so I didn't attempt to negotiate. Your separation agreement will not be given to you at the same time you are notified. It might take a week or 2 to get that.

You already got laid off? What was the process? Your level/business unit? Any other details you're comfortable sharing?

Sorry to hear you were affected. Glad you have another path ready to pursue though with the severance!

I got enough severance that would easily pay for a food truck. Remember everything is negotiable, that’s why they take weeks before you get your separation agreement. They expect some of you to negotiate.
