An honest question. I’ve been here for five years, and I already had enough. For the last few months I’ve been looking for another job, and as soon as I find an acceptable replacement I will leave. I can’t think of a single thing that would make me want to keep a job here or fight for it. I’ve worked hard, have had good results, and all I got in return was no reward but plenty of passive-aggressive treatment from mgmt and no support from my team.

Tough to find a job in High Tech after being at Cisco for a while. No one wants these talents.
Passing by to buy some soy sauce...
As another said, too old to move on, work life and pay are fine. And for me on my sixties, a layoff is more positive than negative since I can retire mostly when I want. I've spent 30 years stressing layoffs and don't have to anymore.
Work with fun and smart people, leadership that challenges me, empowerment,work/life balance, pride in accomplishments, excellent compensation (salary, bonus, R$Us), great benefits that are reasonably priced, unlimited PTO, 4.5% 401k match w/ no vesting, etc.
I looked outside and actually got offers (I am 60+ years of age too) and none matched all of what I have at Cisco.
Sure Cisco is not perfect; but, being grateful, working hard, and having a positive attitude will do a lot for you (not only at Cisco)
I left recently as I was seeing a bit more compensation and more interesting projects. This wasn't an easy choice. The people I worked with are lovely, WLB is great, and remote working is a huge benefit. I definitely don't have all of these aspects in my new role but you can't have it all.
Cisco has some really good pockets of people. I was there for 20+ years before latest LR. You can make a difference and create value for customers easily -- until you get caught up in the game of thrones that I lived through in my last 5 years (I was CX)... If you can find one team-one vision - you can enjoy the job and the ride. The talk of ELT on this forum is fun to watch. ELT talks a very altruistic game, but ELT has no clue what happens inside the trenches (Trench edge is Director at Cisco IMO). Cisco has some young talent - hopefully they can keep them.
“ cos I wok for 2 hrs in every the day and not one ever is even the knowed not wheres else can do you that”. Apparently you drink a heck of a lot too. Yikes.

Sending you to KG to work on your English. Can’t stay here.
well, how about this? because these people can not find a job outside and they dont want to see the humiliation of people and neighbors on them during holidays when you are out of job! can not find a job means it will take you > 12 months to find a job, my old boss took over a year to land a job.. even technical and was able to deliver in Cisco , means nothing outside, the chance of landing a real job if you are 50+ is very low! Now!

Just for me, here are the reasons:
1 I am old to change to a new job
2 The company pays me well because of my work before
3 great work life balance now
I wait every LR to be let go but never happens. So not leaving without severance.
I’m still here because you’re still here
look around this company
older workers with outdated or commodity skillets, many of whom work remotely from some nowhere location
what options do these people have? probably half of the people I work with will be done in tech post-Cisco. who is going to hire some over-forty intermediate developer who is only capable of providing basic code maintenance and lives in some backwater? Cisco HR knows these people have no options, which is why our compensation is poor
this is not specific to Cisco, the entire tech industry is full of aging workers who never built up a nest egg and have no choice but to ride out their current (and last) tech job until the bitter end
People like you. First they will lay you off.
market su-ks at the moment
Damn this is the 10th time someone asked this.
Watching The Beat and all the imbeciles eager to tell us all where they are!
Nothing, accepted a new job that starts 2 Jan
What’s keeping everyone at Cisco ?
Same as you. We are all trying to get out.
