My manager had no clue of what was going on at the ground level - relied totally on cronies. If you cross path with the cronies, you are doomed.
Why have such managers?

My manager trash talks in the chat about people on Teams calls. Everyone can see the chat.

MetLife Proud of my mo--n manager who is a street-fighting mo--n but a genius at pretending that she is busy working but watches reality tv all day long. All DEI quotas met possible with this one.
Yeah the guaranteed job security for manager incompetence is astonishing at MetLife. Managers need to realize if they don't have their teams' backs (and many do not), the teams won't have their managers' backs. I let my manager make a complete fool of themselves whenever possible. They deserve it, and it's somewhat gratifying.
