Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

The most rehearsed all-hands webinar ever

This format of all-hands seems really weird. The back-and forth questions is obviously very rehearsed and I get it - they’re doing damage control and trying to control the narrative. But talk about cringe.

They denied rumors of the MIDS sale until it happened.

Yes…it was an improvement on the usual MD diatribe but unfortunately he still looks the least convincing CEO ever alongside the likes of Musk & Bezos…and this shows in that he is single-handedly failing to convince the street. GC looks competent but is probably working with one hand tied behind back by MD. At least RG was touching on the key concerns that are voiced here - RG if you are listening - have the courage to revert to Slido and permit anonymous staff questions. You are just demonstrating low corporate EQ by not doing this.

@1ivd “ GC seemed nervous “
Yeah he was expecting a call from his broker with advice on how to short sell and short sqeeze the millions of distresses shares he got in VSAT.
That, and he saw 1 missed call from Wasserman Schulz :)

GC seemed nervous. A lot of hand fidgeting.

This is called a short squeeze, when some shorts decide to take their profits. It'll start dropping again at some point. Probably right after all the employees buy their ESPP shares at the top, lmfao.

Looking at the action today, they apparently talked somebody into becoming a buyer.

Was not convinced with GC's commentary that the long term institutional investors are excited about Viasat's direction. I doubt any fund that has held it through a five year grind down 90% is the excited.

It's telling that Mark said he's not thinking about a buyout. Of course not, that's Guru's job, and Guru was conveniently absent from the call.

Did they say anything about a wiki page for unanswered questions?

From now on, we ask only Yes or No questions. Im really tired of them dancing around what we ask.

I thought they were better delivered than priors, as noted, but still word salad. I appreciated RG's reference to being aware of web and social media posts (hey that's us!). But ya, still crtuching on StarLink being promises and hype betrays their continued denial, so it casts doubt on the rest of their guidances. Also their talk about no RIFs was unconvincing, they are always a last resort until they're not. We've been lied to before.

You're right. RG didn't share any specific questions from anyone, just asked very vague questions.

Well it made quite the change from the care-home ramblings. I prefer scripted.
Takeaways? Starlink is (still) just promises and hype. Small GEO is the answer. All our problems track back to an unknown mechanical failure on V3F1. And …… no RIF is contemplated, except as a last resort.
Anyone get anything else notable?
