Thread regarding ViaSat Inc. layoffs

Possible ways out of this mess

All dependent on successful and somewhat "timely" launches of the remaining two Viasat 3 birds.

  1. ) Viasat gets bought out by Eutelsat or another competitor capable of making a deal happen. They integrate their LEO constellation with Viasat GEO.
  1. ) Viasat acquires an LEO constellation integrate with it's GEO. The LEO is used for the "initial" connection to reduce latency.
  1. ) Similar to the prior point, Viasat builds out it's own small LEO constellation and integrates it into latency sensitive service offerings
  1. ) Viasat somehow sells off Defense assets and uses the cash to pay down debt and fully or partially fund point #3
  1. ) Direct-2-Device is successfully commercialized and becomes a cash cow for the company

I’m sure they have thought of selling off parts of the conpany like they did TDL a few years ago.

Agree with the other guybthat they won’t be able to sell the whole conpany without knowing what happens with F2 and F 3

@1tts+1v8RJESV One thing we can both agree on is $20 million is way too much for anyone at a company of this (or even prior) size - especially for someone with no experience in this industry and really no prior large successes to back that kind of comp up.

That disclosure is beyond proprietary and confidentiality constraints on a public board. You know that if you were a real employee. If you find it necessary to make excuses for gooroo, that is your choice.

@1tts+1v8RJESV What ideas have been pitched and discarded by Guru?

When he is paid $20million comp he doesn't get to use nor need your excuses. He's paid to deliver. That can take many forms but he hasn't charted a better direction. There are plenty of things he could do (I'm familiar with several avenues that have been pitched and discarded on the altar of repeating our sins) but playing the same tune and collecting the cash while the Via-carcass is still paying is not what $20million is for.

And by 2026 the stock might be at $3.

The Viasat secret sauce is weak. Always has been.

no company or investment firm in their right mind will buy out viasat before they find out what happens with Viasat 3 f2 and f3 which won’t happen until 2026.

In all seriousness, what could have Guru done? He joined Viasat in June 2023 one month before the F1 failure. F1 fails. The company can't execute it's growth plan and is constrained by debt. That wasn't his doing. He was hired to integrate inmarsat and play offense but immediately company went to defensive posture. What was he to do? Borrow even more and develop LEO? Nope, impossible. MD should have done the 4 years ago.

And also, you would think after the Viasat-2 antena issue the engineers and manufactures would have gotten this one right. Not do even worse. For goodness sake the satellite was in testing for years.

Correct, but it is Gooroo's fault he hasn't navigated a better path out of it. He doesn't need your defense, he's not helpless. There are a ton of other better strategies than just repeating what hasn't worked in the past and being an out of touch cheerleader.

It’s not Guru’s fault Viasat 3 failed. That was another company’s fault.

Satellite hubs in rural areas and then to the user via 4g or 5g. That's the future.

Possibly #6, the PE consortium that took Inmarsat private jumps back in the pool and now takes Viasat/Inmarsat private (for 50 cents on their initial dollar) and parts out the business. A plausible scenario particularly if the stock price dips much lower.

Viasat Farm? Instagram post on IoT to turn a ranch water faucet off should get things going.

Post more ideas. Maybe Guru will spot one, have it authorized and claim it as his own
