Thanks for the good words for the IAM.
Original poster here of the two long replies on this page and I have to correct myself...the sh---y union I meant to point out is SPEEA not IAM. IAM's the good hard working folks. They do all the work, make all the money for the company and drive benefits for everybody but they get beat-up the most, blamed the most, laid off the most and are paid the least. It is common knowledge that any accident is the result of a long chain of events but sadly the only chain link the Boeing Company ever focuses on is when a Mechanic or Inspector sc--w up-essentially making the IAM Blue Collar folks into scapegoats for the tremendous wrongdoings done by Corporate Executives (and by extension unaware new-hire ignorant Engineers are forced to be part of that wrongdoing too because they are directed to cut corners or find the door). If this company is to turn itself around, then the IAM folks (Mechanics and Inspectors) need to be paid as much as the Engineers. Good competent Mechanics and Inspectors bail out Boeing's lesser experienced Engineering folks ALL the time by identifying errors within drawings, build plans etc and 99.9999999% of the time they keep them from becoming huge issues such as the Alaska Air door blowout plug. Unfortunately the Blue Collar folks get no credit for any of this preventative stuff they do everyday to stave off the inevitable airplane crashes that are in reality caused by Corporate Greed and inexperienced Engineers. The greedy corporates keep kicking the good most experienced Engineers to the curb while just hiring in fresh meat from college to save money, only to rinse and repeat. In 2016 during the round of completely unnecessary layoffs, they gave a layoff notice to a very competent guy one day before his scheduled 35 years luncheon.
Anyhoo, sorry for the errors in my earlier rants. God is watching and I hope I have corrected myself in front of him. THe Boeing Comapny is a sinking ship and its really the good experienced Engineers and IAM folks who can save this company.
Union yes!!!!!!? Contract no!!!!
And BTW, the BSC workers are not "hired from Mcdonalds" etc., like the common Union propaganda claims. The objective truth is that they are mostly very competent and seasoned blue collar Veterans but sadly "complete" information such as Engineering drawings and changes are strategically and intentionally withheld from them by the Union workers in order to prevent the BSC workers from succeeding more than they already are. Veterans, regardless of any observers political inclinations, are not only team players but also overwhelmingly they are very ethical people who don't tend to lie or cover-up when they sc--w up but rather they come clean. They just want to the best possible job while getting paid a fair wage to do it without taking undue advantage of others; these are core values each of the US Military branches deeply instills into us at a very young age. While working at BSC, because of all the Union propaganda, I used to think the Union was legitimately looking out for workers and that once I made it to a Union covered position I would have a better life. Boy, was I in for a surprise when I got hired on at Everett; its all cronyism, favoritism and nepotism in the Unions. The Union intentionally left me off mailing lists etc., and ignored any email requests I sent to them. They made sure to make my life as miserable as possible, for example denying a simple second "computer monitor" request whereas the more Senior members had three or even four monitors a piece. Another glaring example of how horrible the Senior Union Workers are is that the more Senior members always got the OT and they used to fight tooth and nail to take over Junior Member's scheduled OT Weekends in the event that their own scheduled OT weekend was cancelled due to lack of work etc. The Union Leaders and Senior Union workers were/are worse than the Boeing Leadership in that at least against the Boeing Leadership there is some sort of checks and balances in place like Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Ethics/HR/Corporate Investigations, but there are 0-ZERO checks and balances in place against the powerful Senior Union workers and Union Leadership. They will run this company into the ground if Boeing stays in WA or if the Union isn't reorganized into something that actually looks out for ALL its workers instead of only the Senior ones. Its kind of funny how the Union takes their cut, "the Union dues" from ALL the workers but then ONLY represents the interests of the most powerful senior members; they are no different than the Elitist Wall-street loyal executives and they would do the exact same as them if their positions in life were exchanged between each other. The Ring Leader for the Leaders in both groups is none other than Satan; sadly humanity at large can't see past his manipulation of humanity into hurting each other. May God right the course of the Boeing Company and its Leaders, Unions, and Workers.
1 Week of pay for every year worked. Its not paid out in a lumpsome but rather biweekly. On your Boeing computer go to the following link for the complete SPD PDF file: https://www.boeing.com/nosearch/benefits/health_welfare/spd/spd_2019_234.pdf.
This company as well as the IAM and SPEEA Unions are way evil. I am also at BGS and one of few people to have worked at BSC, and then Everett/Renton on the BCA side as well as the SLS program on the BDS side. The workforce in WA is stacked with some very selfish people within the Union members all the way up to the management/executive levels although there are some very good workers too (ABout 20% do 80% of the work). The BSC workers are quite different in that they generally put in an honest days worth of hard work and get paid half what the union workers get paid. These layoffs are basically happening so those high ranking super-selfish union workers can pad their wallets some more at the expense of the other junior workers and non-union workers. The company has sold planes at fixed prices for their jets 10 years out and can't just charge more and pay more to the workers. In all honesty they should just get out of Washington state altogether because Amazon, Microsoft and all the California Tech workers having moved in have driven up cost of living way beyond reasonable due to their ultra-liberal stances. When I was in the AIr Force stationed at Join Base Lewis-McChord, WA about 20 years aog it was a great place and the native Washingtonians were (and still are) just outstanding and balanced people. Californians have come in and ruined the state making it a Godless place despite having all the earthly luxuries....and their uncontrolled aethiestic greed commands them to demand more and more.
