Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Nov 13th - LR of about 8k or more!

This one will be massive. I'm a senior director and we have been asked to ramp up the numbers by all means. As I understand it, we have to cut costs and the only easy way is to chop heads.
This time management will be affected in a big way.
I have been here for 23 years and have never worried about my job. This time it feels different.

November is the LR date for those notified in September (at least for those in the US).

No news.

WRONG! There will be a small layoff in November as it’s just cleanup from last layoff due to strings left hanging caused by legal and internal political issues at the time.

After exhausting technical people, management is the ONLY place to cut costs to fund CR next year 2025 salary from $40 millions to $50 millions. CR refuses to quit…

Is the last LR completed? I haven't been notified but was hoping to be LR'ed.

I'm a senior director...

If this were true you'd be out on a golf course like non-senior directors.

As I understand it, we have to cut costs and the only easy way is to chop heads.

As I understand it Cisco went to the well two months ago to remove 7% of staff and held 20-30% of the $1B charge to get there over time. Immediately starting a new far greater layoff than the one just announced is going to be mayhem for customers, employees and investors.

This time management will be affected in a big way.

Leadership has been failing to deal with technical debt for 40 years. It's one thing to layoff the failures but if you have no idea what needs to be done to fix things how you are going to be able to successfully recruit and select the right replacements and how do you get the failures still above them in the reporting chain to give them the freedom to fix things? It's very likely Cisco built a pit so deep that once they jumped in they can never get out.

Keep in mind this site has predicted 20 of the last 2 LRs.

About time
Cisco is bloated with pointless directors and managers with 2 -4 direct reports
Our competitors openly mock how top heavy we are
