Cisco needs to create a brand - and quick - if it wants to remain relevant.
And deliver on that brand successfully.

Apple had too many competing internal projects with all the associated infighting but they bought NeXT which set the baseline for Macs, iPhones, iPads, watches, and streaming boxes. They now have a services segment that turned in $24.2B in revenue last QUARTER, making it second only to the iPhone and more than all the remaining products combined. Windows and Office are a minority of Microsoft's revenue after they diversified into other businesses. Look at the most valuable companies in the world over many decades - the ones that don't reinvent themselves successfully fade.
The world is moving on and Cisco is already being left behind as they cede market share to their competitors. They've only appeared to have growth until recently because the market was growing faster than Cisco lost market share. Cisco needs to provide more comprehensive solutions if it wants to start taking share from others, and that's going to require more software. I don't see anything Cisco could buy that would give them a single stable operating system for all their routing and switching products and the maintenance of its existing code bases haven't just destroyed the development budget over decades but the development staff as well.

As SE in Cisco’s you must know licensing, commercial, be brilliant engineer, customer relations, expert on a million products, support, presenter, AM’s bi--h. How can anyone know so much and do it well? se is person who puts Cisco value to customer and they have to do so much sh-t that not expert in anything’s anymore
