Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

I feel poor.

Is a career at Walmart worth it? What are the chances from working from the bottom and getting up with the big dogs?

I know quite a few people, myself included, that started as hourly associates at the Home Office and are now Sr. Managers. The Director level and up seems to be a bit of a hump though. Most of those are more conventional with college degrees and having never punched a clock.

So much negativity. If you don’t want to work for Walmart, then go somewhere else. For many, though, Walmart is the employer of last resort. This might be for any number of reasons, but, if you complain about working at Walmart and then never take any action to improve your situation, who’s to blame? Not Walmart.

Getting promoted at Walmart is not very difficult. Check your conscience at the door and be prepared to sc--w over anybody who is the way of your path to the next rung of the ladder. Also be prepared to do whatever your immediate supervisors tell you to do no matter how morally repugnant. If you are a horrible enough person and prepared to sell your soul to the devil the sky is the limit in this company. At least until some supervisor can advance his own goals by stomping on yours. Good luck!!

You feel poor? That’s exactly the way biden and Harris wanted you to feel. So, they were actually successful at something.

Getting promoted is relatively easy. It's all about what you're willing to sacrifice, the market, who you know, etc. if you want to go beyond being a Coach. I would encourage you to really pay attention to the managers in your store and how they feel about their jobs.

I think the deeper question is:

Why would you work for a company like Walmart who no longer values associates and daily mistreats 2.1 million employees.

Not everyone will make it up. They do the same thing to everyone. Try to keep you from quitting and promise you that you will eventually work at corporate. That’s barely the case.

You feel poor? I had to move back in with my in-laws cause of inflation. That’s life due to government not taking care of the lower class

Anybody that gets into management and is with the company for any length of time will eventually be let go. The vacation time is a carrot on a stick. The only way to stay with the company in management is to be totally sleazy. They can take and exceptionally nice person and make them a cheap. If you want to stay with the company especially in management I hope you can live with your conscious.

It’s not worth it. Work your way up and then get replaced.

Is working worth it? Should I put in effort at my job? Should I be a quality employee?

Yes people that get things done will get paid well.
