you pay peanuts, you get monkeys

In the 1990s lower level monkeys could get over $10M in options and the software was still garbage. Go directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Cisco does bring in some great talent and after a few months of doing nothing but bug fixing they've moved on to another company. Even if Cisco paid double the industry average no one with talent wants to have their skills sanded off with 12 grit sandpaper. Make Cisco a stepping stone instead of a tar pit and good people will stay a while.

Word on the street is that GS has been a little, let's say "underwhelmed" by the quality of Cisconians.

Cisco has very little to offer employees, so we don't get top talent, even in this market

want to change that Gary? start with $$$$$

yeah the fu--ing CEO of a 60+billion dollar a year company...

Cisco peaked at $57B in 2023. What company with $60+B are you talking about?

...needs to personally approve every new hire.,...yeah mo--n...that makes sense.

Bob Palmer of DEC did exactly that, and they were going from 130,000 to 70,000 people at the time. People at the level who are going to be asking have sufficient self preservation skills not to ask unless it's an objectively critical case lest they go off "to spend time with their families" so it won't take much of his time.

Put GS on a Glade 11 job for a year in CX or Sales. If he does his work just ok, he keeps his Cisco job, else get kicked out in LR. Eat your own dog food stars from top.

Word on the street is that GS has been a little, let's say "underwhelmed" by the quality of Cisconians. He's made it clear that 50% must be out in the next 12 months. The jobs will be outsourced, replaced with smaller teams leveraging AI, or else taken on by a Splunker. At this point CR is working on his putting and has very little to do with the day-to-day. Short of it is, you need to get splunky or else maybe find a Splunker who can help fill you with splunk in order to keep your job.
