This could lead to MASSIVE layoffs at Cisco.

I've heard 100,000. In fact, some say 120,000.

loss of trust from government and service provider customers was not on my bingo card for today

The world knows most software developers aren't very bright so they expect a certain number of bugs and security holes. Database hacks are so common that when even a grocery store gets hacked credit card companies automatically cancel then issue a new credit card to everyone who was hacked. At some point it just became part of the cost of doing business.

These events are short lived with minimal impact to a company, if any. The upgrades by analysts continue.
