Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

True company saving initiatives

Every Western Expat , Senior Aramco Executive and Saudi Prince knows how to save this company and knows what I am going to write. The Saudi Crown Prince needs to do a stock buy back and fire 80% of the Saudi Aramco workforce 95% of it's Saudi Aramco management. Aramco needs to reinstate the pay and benefit packages for all Western expats to those of the year 2000. Aramco needs to remove the locals from the Aramco camps and then renovate or tear down the older houses. Tell John Hopkins to replace the ESL doctors & nurses with Western expats and open an aramco hospital, for the thousands of locals who come on camp, to a facility off camp. Hire back 25% of the workforce with Western expats who have actual oil & gas experience. The Crown Prince needs to then sit back and watch his crown jewel, Aramco, just dominate the oil & gas industry. He can build a secondary economy for his people without the Aramco waste or waste from building his new economic city ghost towns.

Then I woke up and realized all of my suggestions are too complex for the Crown Prince or McKenzie & Co. to understand.

Sounds like @Iwzz+1uyTvuIj realized his passport (and country) is irrelevant in today's world. Could have been written by a thobe, but most likely a Brit who hasn't learned his place as the 51st State.

However, back in 2020 days Western expats were rather spoiled and bloated from the excessive packages and entitlements that were remnants of the US management era, that enshrined US payroll as the superior benefits package, but only a few hires were really worthy, the rest of the US talent were quite mediocre. Some US management and supervisors were just as tribal, political and weird as the current Saudi leadership (they learnt from the US expats that looked after their own and added some local characteristics)… Would removing garden and house staff from camps also be part of this wonderful cleanse? But you would still keep the nurses for the s-x parties? Right?

Yes, I agree with you, sad but true. At the risk of being cliche' I will say that things change, and unintended consequences are real.

This was such a great company. It’s so saddening to see the downturn since IPO on how quickly the people have become a number. Aramco was loyal to their people and the people were loyal to the company. Layoffs of under performing employees makes sense but too many good people are being laid off because of money, this is the richest company in the world. They don’t have to do this like other companies to survive. It takes a true leader to understand the value of loyalty and trust, the ability to come to work without fear. Somehow I think they believe working in fear drives productivity, but it’s just the opposite when even the good people are let go for no reason.

McKenzie has no incentive to make those recommendations. That would imply a sudden loss of revenue from countless 300 page manuals and Powerpoint Presentations.
