Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Buying competitors customers to try survive

The market is drying up quickly and so is the revenue, so the plan is to buy competitor's customers even if its barely profitable. Consolidate the market under one large brand and at the same time, layoff every role possible to lower costs and bring the whole thing back into profitability.

Feedback suggest Ricoh and Fujifilm are feeling the effects of this strategy and can't afford to counter it.

Getting back to profitability won't solve product and service issues.

I'm not sure Ricoh and Fuji need to counter act anything. It's obvious that Canon Solutions America has undercut price of their inkjet presses to gain market share. Here in is the problem, the flag ship inkjet presses they sale have problems maintaining a consistent print product and require a huge burden to the service organization. Canon R&D is still learning how to function in the commercial print world with a stable and quality product. Ricoh and Fuji have lived this mess over 10 years ago, when the industry inkjet giants Kodak and IBM went down this exact path. Both owned the transactional market for inkjet but couldn't make the transition to commercial print. Kodak is back on track after almost a second death and IBM, well was purchased by Ricoh.
So, Ricoh and Fuji can just wait it out as Canons chickens are now coming home to roost. Commercial Printers are thinking twice about Canon.

Any idea as to what roles / locations will most likely be laid off in the 4th quarter?

And of course, shoot the unemployment rate through the roof. Then you'll complain about burden on taxpayers to foot the bill.

Sick thinking.
