It seems that there is a tendency for corporate and regional leadership to micromanage various aspects of our stores without fully understanding the on-the-ground realities. This disconnect can hinder our ability to effectively run the store.
For instance, the allocation of hours has become increasingly challenging. Currently, we are primarily staffed in cosmetics, which leaves other areas of the store struggling. This lack of personnel affects our ability to provide excellent customer service, process freight, execute sales, and complete markdowns efficiently.
Additionally, the requirement for markdowns to be completed at 80% on Sundays, without sufficient support for sale sets or processing during the week, poses a significant challenge. It raises the question of how we can drive sales when we lack the necessary staffing to merchandise effectively in a timely manner.
It is crucial for corporate and their RVP’S to recognize and support the hardworking employees in smaller stores who genuinely care about their jobs. If this trend continues, we risk losing valuable management that contributes positively to our operations.
Lastly, I believe that the current approach to promoting credit and email sign-ups is not resonating well with our customers and seems to be counterproductive.
