Just got word from management that cameras are going to be placed into each company vehicle, dash + cab facing. You will be recorded every time you’re in a vehicle. Supposedly coming by the end of the year for all markets.

If there is one thing Lumen knows how to do is waste money. This is just more thumb pressure. Even though they think this will save money. It will never be enough to over come the cost. This is just more thumb pressure, more write ups. I bet a lot of techs will say enough is enough.
So, I wonder what would happen if I made a phone call during my break to say a doctor to make an appointment to treat the hemorrhoids management gives us. Wouldn't that be a HIPPA violation?
These are the same managers covering their laptop cameras with tape.
This management is maddening continually do and invest in useless non value add cr-p where attention should be on core issues of the company process chain
When so many executives are let go in a few months of hiring that is a sign SLT is not up to pulse
There's an old saying that really rings true with this management...if you run it like a school yard, the workers will act like it!!
This management is making business decisions that continuously put us in direct conflict of what the business is today after all the continuous transformation. Where are all the workers for this white glove treatment they are promising customers now? Where are all the internal "experts" they tell these customers about? Why do I always seem to be working 2 executive escalations every week, amongst my regular daily responsibilities? Why do these company escalations go on for months, trying to get to the right internal "expert" for the resolution that it took the Field Tech to identify? Why is the Field Tech the mediator between the various different groups, colors, mgmt layers and Customer?
If we truly want to make a difference...mgmt should go back and review all the recorded, executive escalation meetings, calls I have been involved with to see where the true "cog" in realized revenue lies.
More micro-management of the field will end up being a net loss for the company & customer in more ways most would not rationalize....it has been proven many times over! This reeling in the "prisoners" and corporate flex that continues, since the miscalculation of SLT decisions to keep the revenue going during the pandemic, is nothing more than corporations trying to regain the power and control of the minions they employ! Stay strong, keep doing the best with the tools you are given on a daily basis and please know...it is not us that created this dystopian play!
Fwd-Rear dash cam? That's likely to have some evidence when an incident happens, like the tech is brake-checked by a mo--n, or a road rage incident. Just be sure you have it in writing that the company will provide you with a company paid lawyer for any issue that comes from an incident. If you don't have that in writing then you'll be paying for your lawyer. Most drivers are honest decent folks. There's gonna be some bad apples too. Drivers should welcome the addition of such technology, isn't Lumen a "technology" company? They are probably wanting video to train AI models with, so that in 1-2 years the vehicles become 100% tech-less. LOL
It's over for Lumen having good field techs, as anyone with options will leave. Another stupid mgmt decision that won't do anything to improve the real problems at the company.
I think body cameras for every interaction with Management and other employees for your safety. If this is how were going to operate it should go both ways.
What's next surgically place a chip under you're skin that's tied to Tech2go so your more productive and of course for safety......

Just get your self a body cam, where it every where you go. And be really obvious about it..customers give you a hard time just telling them the truck is recording you. And it’s for your professional protection
In not an attorney but I’m thinking They law is quite clear here. if you’re on the job, & being recorded by someone or some organization, your entitled to make a recording of the interactions for your own records, so if the company is going to be recording you while you drive up the customers driveway and or record you getting out of the company vehicle after you’ve safely backed in there drive way .. then bingo, the customer like it or not is now on the
( video recording hook) for the companys nonsense, plus every customer with a ring camera will have also opened Pandora’s box … soon this will go away just like that stupid idea of taking pictures of modems and jacks inside of customer’s homes, actually had customer cancel an orders over the idea..
Yes. And. You can’t sneeze,yawn,blink,eat ,drink,text ,look at computer or phone or radio to loud or brake to fast or say anything when a driver in front of you does something stupid. Can’t wait to pick my nose or scratch by ba--s on camera.
