Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Why is it so hard to find a decent job in 2024?

I've been job hunting for months, but it's really rough out there. I’ve gotten offers, but the pay doesn’t come close to what I make now - even with our terrible benefits. That just adds to my anxiety, especially with how shaky things feel here at the moment. I hope others are having better luck than me.

In my experience, MDT paid really low. I discovered I was being severely underpaid and got a big bump in overall compensation at another biotech company. The job market is tough right now and you need internal referrals to even have a chance, but the pay at other biotech companies should align or be higher than MDT.

It's tough for me there's so much that I do that doesn't transfer to any company outside of Medtronic. I feel only 1/3 of work I do here is real experience.

Same here. I want to move on, but it has to be the right opportunity and not just any.

It must be out there, just need to be patient.

So why would you go anywhere? 1+1 = 2 not 4
