Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

The RTO mess was definitely intentional

They want people to quit (or not comply so they are fire-able) so they don't have to do a layoff and pay severance, all because they over-hired during the pandemic.

This right here. This was not badly thought out or an accident. This was fully intentional. This company no longer gives a damn about employees. We're just numbers to be cut, and if they can get us to walk away, even better.

Do you get to choose the weeks you go into the office or is it assigned?

Regional leadership is a cheerleading squad. It has no power at all. It's just to keep some leaders feel like they are doing something. Specially the ones who love to organize team events and parties.

In yesterday’s Boston regional meeting they reviewed the pulse survey results. NPS of 38 in Boston which was almost 20 points below the firm average. Effectively they said Dynamic Working isn’t changing and they will only consider minor changes like how conference rooms are booked and getting people noise canceling headphones to deal with the noise. They really didn’t seem to care at all or the regional leadership team has no power to change any of this.

Oh absolutely, it’s still completely embarrassing. People walking over a mile into the office, sharing desks, working on the floor? This isn’t a startup. It’s also dishonest reclassifying remote associates as suddenly hybrid, and calling their terminations “voluntary resignations”. Reserving wfh exemptions for select employees, not even limited to just medical reasons. I’d have more respect if they just did straightforward reductions and called it a day.

I’m sure someone will feel woozy from all that walking from parking so far away. I’m sure ADA accommodations are being violated. I’m sure max building occupancy has been exceeded. I wonder how long til proper attention is called to this absurdity. For a place so concerned with regs they sure are being blatantly irresponsible.

Layoffs will happen regardless. My only hope is that the severance package will be worth it.
