Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Can we go back in time?

What are the chances of resurrecting the company culture where employees matter? I used to love my job. Maybe some of you will not agree, but to me, this was a great place to work for. It's the last several years that things have gone to he-l. The company culture has changed so much that this place is now almost unrecognizable. I still miss the old Schwab.

We got a TDA director of 10-15 years she knows nothing. We laid of a Schwab director of 10-15 and even He knew nothing. Mediocre Folks to be honest. Not A Level performers.

When Schwab bought TDA, two good companies were destroyed. Schwab was so much better before the merge. TDA was so much better, based on what Green folks say, before it was bought out.

I used to think that if you always put the customer first it would be good for the firm and the firm would be good to me. Not anymore. They truly don’t care about employees.

I wish our board of directors would read the last two comments.

The problem is Chuck changed too.

He was never the idealist fighting for the little guy. He was Walmart and despised by the industry. But he was in it for him.

But over the years he got worse. Greed. Worries about legacy. And played by Walt who became a son after Chuck was betrayed by DP.

Chuck still heavily supports a candidate who the establishment says would be worse for the economy, had no issue with his own affair, and.still feels like a sell out to Bank of America and the street.

Chuck isn’t a fix. And I know it’s blasphemy here to point it out. But it is true. Chuck may have done good things once. But like Ellison and Bezos and Welch and Musk, Chuck lost his way.

The EC got greedy and started to take away money and benefits from employees while thinking that the customer service level would remain the same. Sorry Walt but you need to go back to business school and learn why Chuck was successful in the first place….the people

Everyone I talk to feels the same way! Before the TDA acquisition, Schwab was a great company to work for.

Can't agree.

It was better than it is now, but Schwab has been finding new levels of su-kiness for far longer than blue/green.

Look at how cr-ppy the other mergers have been. Cybertrader? Lots of infighting and both sides saying we are better than them. US Trust? That's an oldie but a goodie. Bunch of east coast mooks and west coast dreamers. Yikes. OX? That brought a bunch of toxic a-holes in. They were focused on their payouts and their egos. Then we hired Visa flotsam after Visa's fall. On and on. And that's just STS. The other divisions had similar issues and noxious people.

TD has been some of the best folks and the only merger that was even close to being a success. Sure it was an overpay. And ToS is a scary product on the backend. But it included people with good hearts.

Now we are dancing with Citi. And a bunch of other poor fits and misfits.

If Rick is the next holy hand grenade then pull the damn pin and move on. Walt is a lame duck. New CFO? Not a fit. And other upper changes are no better.

Hey SMT, EC- This thread is all the Glint survey you need to worry about. Question is, will meaningful action take place as a result? We unfortunately know the answer to that.

Find one of the old timers. Before Y2K.

You'll hear about when the company was BofA, when STS staff would drop everything to take calls and how Chuck wanted to take the company private like Fidelity.

Fidelity and Schwab are both icky places these days.

And it isn't getting better.

Everyone I know feels the same way. Leadership makes bad call after bad call and that is the reason.
