Can’t speak for all areas of the business but in SAS the government’s transition to fixed price contracting is leaving us exposed. In the past, to make money you used to be able to just throw bodies on programs and by charging labor hours, we were guaranteed to profit. A lot of our processes were built under the assumption that there’s always more time and knowledgeable people available to bring onto a program. With fixed price, that’s no longer the case, and you can feel the squeeze that’s taking place.
Listen to the Kube on the CNBC interview from last week. He says they are committed to a $1B+ cost savings and as he says cost savings is head count, facilities and supply chain.

It isn't the players that have the problem, we have a horrible coaching staff, happens every year in sports, bad coaches ruin good players. gtfo while you can retain your dignity and free will, wish I would have, now I live like you do and wish I would have jumped when I could. It is a narrow window, trust your intuition.

So if you feel its going to be your last day, rejoice if you have other jobs in queue. I am happily employed, but I look once a week just to know who is hiring in my area.
