Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Another one bites the dust

Xerox has decided to close the doors on the toner manufacturing plant in Canada (Supplies Development Centre). Employees already notified. Last day is December 27th.

Toner production being moved to Webster (W216), and latex production being moved to Oklahoma plant.

Another limb of the manufacturing tree cut off. Soon only a stump will remain of the "core business", as the brilliant mind of Baldy transitions the business from printers and consumables (toners), to services and AI.

Xerox still makes toners? I thought Xerox has exited the production/graphic market and the rest of the devices are made by FB so I thought Xerox would purchase the toners and other consumables from FB. Sounds like that Xerox is still producing toners internally and whatever is left cannot be very much so Xerox needs to consolidate the capacity. Hopefully, the impacted employees in Canada will receive a fair severance package.

Maybe it once was 1,000 workers? They will be moving on; whether they like it or not. No need to be rude/dismissive about it.

Canada offices will fall like domino's. Nothing good there. Apps team is next.

This was inevitable. The toner plant supported domestication of toner, which surely won't be possible with future 3rd party sourced products.

"How many people are employed at this location?"

It's been withered down to about 20ppl. Corporate hiring freezes over the last 3yrs prevented the plant from replacing lost employees (quit/fired).

X is quickly becoming another Kodak. Too bad they chose that route instead becoming another apple.

Anything being moved to Webster is a death knell

A competitor is going to buy a nice toner plant, when the final cell tolls for legacy X. Probably for pennies on the dollar

This should give Webster employees another year of employment. Anyone left on the sinking ship really needs to put some effort into finding a new employer with FORWARD growth.
