Any solid rumors of what to expect in January or February or have they gotten really good with the element of surprise?

Just found out they let 350 Inside Sales Reps go and gave the accounts to a reseller, WW Express.

also they are currently chopping overtime and combining management jobs etc. getting worrisome as to the true conditions being hidden. normally would be very busy with peak preps this time of year .

if i was one of those remaining, just know now leadership has no qualms about laying you off with less than 1 week notice. they just set the standard.

we are going into q4 soon and hiring will be non-existent even not counting the way the economy is currently.

i would be fixing up that resume of yours, get your finances/savings in order, and brace for impact...bc seeing the events this week...it can happen to essentially anyone in the span of less than 1 week

To clarify, I was notified this week, and I did get a severance. Taxed at higher rate, of course. Also. my insurance will be in effect for two months after my last day. Non-Ops, non corp.

Earnings calls a few months ago. They said they were about 80% complete on the plan to reduce 12,000 positions

Overtime cuts on same day. Very odd before peak season as normally O.T. ramps up and many preparations are completed only by adding overtime. Skinny peak season coming? They must know somethings coming and are batting down the hatches to weather a storm. Put your bonnet on and try to hold on.

All that rush rush hurry hurry was for nothing. What employees are left should remember this. Profits over people. Good workers dumped w/out warning so they could not do a "slip and fall " at work and claim lifetime income disability/workers comp.(no one would of course). This is why you may have received no required "Warn Notice". State fine is much cheaper in the long run.

No notice, no VSP and no severance!! This is crazy!! But they continue to make profits and purchase shiny new toys! Do any of the past actions of giving severance and VSP set a precedent??

They don't even care about about the states with severance laws in place right now. There have been layoffs in states with the WARN act and employees were still only given 1 week notice. It looks like it's mostly non ops and it looks like they are/have outsourced the jobs. The CEO has definitely made sure employees who are not Union know where they stand.

A manager in non-ops department was laid off yesterday, rumors of more to come next week

These non-OPs cuts are not "VSP"s or similar. This is simply escorting 100s and eventually 1000s to the door. No compensation beyond what they'd already earned. The old VSP (Voluntary separation) is dead and gone...it's now "R" (required), and no "package". Some were told on 9/10 their separation was effective 9/9.
Luckily (sic) this CEO has done a remarkable job of transforming the stock price from $230 to less than $120, so these laid off employees will have half of what they once had in their 401k and MIP accounts. Brace yourself to see her cheerleading about the upcoming quarter/year. Happens every time.

I and 4 others in my non ops department were notified yesterday that our last day is Friday. They said the cuts are going to continue until the end of the year.

Smaller centers are seeing 20% off in volume in some areas. Drivers are noticing tires and parts lasting alot longer due to less mileage. Yet they are still hiring some for temporary package sorts for coming peak season, to be whacked right after Christmas.

Which departments? Operations? Or Non Ops?

They announced the layoffs today, probably not all of them since they are supposedly announcing them today and tomorrow but it's multi state layoffs.

Heard similar rumors ...supposedly a realignment announcement and VSP's. Almost at the end of Q3 so wouldn't be a surprise given economic factors. Regular Joe's don't have money to buy things, volume, revenue not increasing, so cutting costs is the only way to improve financial performance.
