Within corporate, they've been planning to axe Zoom and only use Teams instead for everybody. But I just realized that the last day for Zoom before it's officially shut down for everyone is Sept 16th. Is the date a coincidence? Or is it a clean break for those who won't be staying beyond that date?

"in NY state if companies are monitoring your computer they have to notify you."
They do. There's a notice every time you log onto your (their) computer. They don't say they're actually doing it, but they warn you that they can, and may do so at any time.
Ramon is THE highest compensated food company CEO. His TOTAL package comp was $35 mil last year. His base salary declined last year, but his total comp was up 19% over prior year. Totally unacceptable and I understand why the group around him has left. Executives are cashing in while we all suffer through the issues.
Former Pepsi employee here as a FYI - in NY state if companies are monitoring your computer they have to notify you. Illegal in NY state to do so.
One a side note, PepsiCo is losing money bc Ramon had a massive layoff in 2019 where he fired about 150 admins. That decision is now coming back to bite him in the behind. Executives are now spending time on administrative tasks instead of strategic tasks.
who cares about Teams spying on everyone, just use your phone, I've been using my phone to work on my side business and goof off for the past 10 years
The "surveillance" is because of companies losing money on commercial real estate and employees not really wanting to work in the office, people saying they are working from home but are in Costa Rica, and a way to judge productivity to determine which tasks AI can replace.
The corporate surveillance state is here. All hail our Greek Queen for that gift. We've finally caught up to 1984... Only about 40 years late.
They can already track everything you do on your corporate device, regardless of what application you're using.
They're switching to Teams because it's cheaper.
The MS Teams tracking is correct. They'll be able to capture any chat/communications and use them for HR purposes.
Being able to use Teams also allows them to better track what people are doing. Its the ultimate Microsoft integration. Now everything will be 100% Microsoft "connected". If you go into the different Teams settings, there is a lot of tracking of what you do right down to your location....
It certainly confuses the whisper network during layoffs.
Time to take the tin foil hat off and get outside.
Honestly the timing seems perfect because why not just add another layer of chaos to what's already going on and get it all out of the way at once
