Specially true during LR time. In corporate world it’s dog eat dog, and any appearance of friendship is just outward superficially fake. Loyalty is to job and managers I have seen being a 20+ veteran, in the hope for prolonging our careers. It’s a sad affair since we spend so much of our time working.

You answer my technical questions, I answer your technical questions.
Over lunch, you tell me superficial stories about your kids and I tell you superficial stories about mine.
What makes you think we are friends?
Laid off? I repeat above with your replacement at Cisco. You repeat above at your next company.
You are in your own career lane. Be friendly, but do not entrust your colleagues with any information you wouldn't feel comfortable telling a perfect stranger.
You're employed to do a job, not to make friends. Companies thick in toxic politics are a breeding ground for ephemeral loyalty and backstabbing. Consider going elsewhere.

Do I love you have jib. Surely yes. Bur do I dislike MG colleague, than surely no. I do see some colleagues who never leave a chance to show others down but it's not norm and I feel it's everywhere.
Surely I would do whatever I can do for college if he is fired and will expect same from them as well. Above all we r human beings first rather than xyz company employee and should know what's the proper behavior.
Tough times but that's not an excuse to forget basic manners.
There sure are some good people in this world and at Cisco. You just need to find them.
There still some decent human beings there.
But some of bad guys will try to make fun of you, invite you for a lunch just check how sad you are and throw 30% of the bill on the table, try to be your financial consultant. You need protect yourself. Be prepare don't let these guy ruin your mood.
Chuck has a goal to be a billionaire. Cisco shareholders and employees have already paid him $500 million. Nobody can get in the way of his goal, not Gary or any higher performing CEO. In the last 5 years, Jayshree has added $100 billion to Arista’s market cap, while Chuck has delivered zero to Cisco shareholder's and endless LR’s for employees.
Its clear the state of the company over the last 10 years has been SLT. They lack the technical vision, to go after markets, be agressive, be innovate. But they lay off folks at the bottom. Other companies have replaced CEO.
85,000 fake friends especially ELT
My friend at cisco nobody is your friend one looks out for oneself especially management. They will put you under the bus or stab you in the back if their position is threatened in any way or form. Its all about hunger games in cisco when they keep doing this layoffs every fu--ing quarter now.
