Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Working hard for what?

What does hard work get you at Cisco? Just the privilege of being used, abused, and stepped on before they decide you've become too expensive and replace you with somebody from another country who might not work nearly as hard as you but costs ten times less. Now you decide if it's worth it.

its a good gig if you can do all the BS to be of the list, kiss up, play the game , fool people, gang up on the little guys, throw a kitten under the bus, all things the devil would encourage. if you can do that, you will quietly have 20 years of good income , then one day you are LRd and never existed, either man up or get out.

A paycheck. Top kids coming out of college were getting $100K to start at many companies a decade ago, and not just in SJ or NYC so crying poor won't generate sympathy. If you had to get a job as a kid like many of us and know what it's like to be shoulder deep in grease trying to unclog a grease trap you'd be far more thankful. The idea of being a lifer died 40 years ago when layoffs started in earnest and you should have been planning your career accordingly starting then.

Welcome to multinational corporations and globalism. Keep profits domestic but expenses in cheaper cost centers. Not saying I agree with it, but themes the breaks, kid.
