Do the managers already know?

It seems like the names of FTEs that will be let go have already been created and shared with HR. Have any of you guys had any luck hearing from your managers? Would they already know?

Here’s how it went down at Nickelodeon. There was a list. They asked for a 20-25% head count reduction and SLTs created a list. But that’s NOT the list that was used and senior leadership had NO idea how bad the cuts were. People who were told they were safe, were out. It ended up
being over 60% of the marketing & creative teams. As the whole thing went down remaining leadership had no idea who was being cut and how deep the cuts were. So who the F made the decisions? I believe no one here who says they know. Because once it comes to the actual day, someone above you or some rando HR person may be giving you the ax.

That's a great question.

Those who are claiming to be from HR / "in the know" - how are you defining "Managers"?

With how leaky (and upset) this company is - case in point this entire forum - I'm finding it incredibly unlikely that unimpacted managers are aware of who is being let go. Unless a MAJORITY of management is out the door, there's no way your everyday Manager has been given a list of names.

But who knows. Maybe our three CEOS will also become our three managers.

I highly doubt that someone who is a people manager at a lower level would have been informed/trusted with that information so far in advance. You can be a people manager at only a Manager level I find it very hard to believe that someone at that level would know at this point. Based on how leadership on my team has been acting I doubt anyone below VP/ Sr Director level has any idea.

So, the general idea is that all managers do in fact know who on their teams will be impacted.

But if they don't know, that means they themselves will be impacted.

In that case, it's the manager above them who knows.

Interesting timing to pull the plug on those never ending workplace surveys...

some people were added to the list at the last minute so even if you are not on the list now does not mean you won't get added later.

I have a question for HR. How long is health care paid for by the company for severance ? I understand the two weeks - how long are the premiums for health paid for? I have been given two answers previously -one was tnrough november and one was the end of the month laid off Non union FTE
Thank you if you can answer

When we say “managers” — what level are we talking about here? SVP? VP? Directors?

"Those saying yes are gaslighting. Managers DO NOT know."

Managers know. I am in HR. The only managers that dont know are the ones who might be impacted

My take -take it for what you will ..
August phase
In my division -they only knew a few days before for plans and a meeting to go over with HR how to deliver
they also knew they were safe then as well
they were not given input on who would be laid off or any prep time of who would do their work
This was a smaller layoff I would say - if some division is losing 50percent, I don't see how it could be done this way

Nothing leaked out over the month since names were given in July which is incredible

a couple days before a few people were told they were safe by their boss.. closer relationships

Seems like only the chiefs evp and some svp even knew what was going to happen

I would be highly surprised if anyone below SVP knows who is going. Many SVPs and above were involved in scenario planning however many of them don’t know the final numbers yet, BUT they do have a very good idea of how it will play out.
Also remember that even though they were involved with planning it doesn’t mean they are safe. They could be gone too.

Managers know unless they are also being impacted. What I mean is they might not know the extent of the cuts that they are part of it. Su-ks

Nope def. Not living in the dark. Most managers have known for a while. Its entirely possible that even the managers in the know will be axed as well.

I really doubt that they know, especially with targets behind their own backs.

Mostly no I guess . May be headcount that going to be reduced in a big team . They may try to hold as much as possible till last day . Even for HR only when there is need by basis
