I personally don’t believe we are at any stage of AI development that can deliver what most C-suites are betting on these days. From what I can see, some companies are using AI just as an excuse to offshore jobs. Many, however, are truly betting on AI to replace the workforce and processes en masse. It seems they are forgetting they are being sold the AI by the salesmen types very much like themselves.

AI will change how business is done comparable to how the PC changed the business world. It is a tool, nothing more. I think RAG will be the most utilized functionality. The AI functionally that is gaining the most attention (generative videos, speech etc) are not replacing any high dollar business critical workflows in the medium term. The real change is the ease in creating and training traditional ML models. So if you have a business where big data can play a part then it will be easier to train a model.
