Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

Another Kate executive hire gets fired - no more AI expert

how many senior executives has she brought in and then got rid of? 4? 5? more?

Now:

"I want to share some leadership changes that will affect our Product and
Technology teams. Satish Lakshmanan, our Chief Product and Strategy Officer, is leaving Lumen at the end of the week. Satish's strategic vision and experience were instrumental for us at a critical time in our transformation journey."

December 2023:
"We are thrilled to welcome Satish to Lumen," said Johnson. "He is a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the evolving network needs and challenges of enterprise customers in the digital era. Satish has a wealth of experience in building and scaling world-class products and services, leveraging Gen AI to accelerate digital transformations. His experience, knowledge, and leadership style are a perfect match for Lumen as we disrupt the telecom industry by delighting customers with effortless digital experiences."

guess he wasn't that instrumental if he didn't even make it a year?

This was the supposed "AI expert" from AWS. another short term hire, up there with sham, laiq, and others.. has she run out of GE Digital and Microsoft people to bring in and then dispose of?

I don’t know what exposure the commenters on this thread had with Sham Chotai or Satish Lakshmanan. Everyone seems to have strong opinions. Well, I worked closely with both of them. They were two of the best leaders I ever supported in nearly 30 years at this company. Sham was treated horribly in his short time with the company. He’s an amazing person!!! I was completely shocked by Satish’s departure. I would have followed him into war. None of the negative comments I see on this thread are true.

Given her last technical executive leadership hires lasted no longer than 8 months, he doesn’t have long left!

"I am worried since Dave Ward is being sued by Packetfabric for using funds unauthorized. Who is the board hiring?"

I was looking it up and I think that case was dismissed in May 2024. Maybe they reached some settlement?

It's not just Kate hiring them it's the board too. I think all these big names like Satish and Sham never knew how to grow a team. They are just used to coming into something already running smoothly.

Sham and Satish were also known a--holes while they were at Lumen. Delivering nothing and having the worst attitude especially towards women; hence why folks jumped ship under them. Big culture issue. Both were forced out for not making a difference and I'm happy they were. At least they didn't keep them around like Rob Ward trying to make em work.

And he’s gone from the executive page. Maybe we will be able to read what his package was in the next quarterly filing?

Kate really has an issue bringing in qualified people, and then the people she does bring in have a tendency to get hauled out of the building. “Fail fast” shouldn’t be in your executive team.

LUMN can't develop any new products so they are reverting to the low-margin Level3 style behavior; which makes sense since their mgmt below senior leadership team level is mostly Level3.

First Sham Chotai (did nothing) now Satish (did nothing); will they actually try to find someone with leadership qualities this time or do they just need another seatwarmer?

so what you're saying is there wasn't trust and transparency and clarity when he was hired?

and then he Dared To Leave?

You don't need to pay for such talent when fiber is all you do. Fact is, Satish quickly learned he was told a BS story about "Lumen doing AI" when they hired him, and then found his next hop. It's also about optics, so you hire in someone and then give a press release to make the public feel warm and fuzzy, then later ditch that person.
