For people who have been laid off so far, would you mind sharing what your 2023 end of year performance rating was (if applicable)? Exceptional, Successful, Progressing or Underperforming. Curious if these are being factored in at all to decisions.

This is sickening
Definitely not a factor. Multiple ppl I know who received Exceptional were let go.
Well, we got threatened with performance ratings. Our team is struggling to get all the work done & meet airdates. We really can't afford to cut anyone. Upper Management doesn't really step in to help out unless s*** hits the fan and then even that's rare. They take away our resources to get things done, provide inadequate apps that don't work, and take FOREVER to get anything done (ie zoom tutorials, documents on how to do anything, improved apps, etc),not to mention don't even answer emails or slacks - just leave us hanging. They play games and think we have the time for this nonsense.
We rarely get the help we need and they just don't seem to care. This is a Director and VP of the dept. When we bring up issues we are having, they get defensive and threaten us that we could be laid off. They also threaten that if our performance isn't up to par, we could be laid off. When this was brought to HR, they (HR) were laid off!
I've been told that performance doesn't matter. This is strictly finacial
We've had to cover for a team member who took his 5 month (or whatever it is) parental leave 3 out of the last 5 years. All we found when we took over his stuff was that he was bad at his job and did less work than the rest of us. Not surprisingly, he'd come back each time and claim to be busy catching up on all his stuff, which wasn't true because we had it all covered. We never ratted him out to management, but if push comes to shove you can guess who I think should go (and not knocking parental leave for guys), but we'll see whether there's justice ... not sure managers keep any tabs on people who constantly pretend to be very busy.
Agree with most on the chain, but performance can definitely be a factor unless you’re cutting an entire team. If you’re asked to cut $x out of your team and have 2 or more people with similar functions at similar salary, you’re gonna compare their performance to see who stays. In any case, what’s so great about keeping your job, when you have to cover for everyone who’s gone and never being replaced?
Please note it is never your performance in a layoff. It's poor leadership and low profits. Please don't take it personally.
At the end of the day, they can choose someone to cut based on whether or not they like the color of their shirt. Good management doesn't play favorites. But we all know good managers and team leads are hard to come by. Doesn't seem to be a lot of long term planning regarding who is being cut either
It’s not a factor when it comes to laying off 1000s of people. There will be people in every performance rating being let go.
However, if a team leader was involved in making the list and someone on their team has annoyed them or just too demanding and not a team player, I’m sure they made it on the list.
