All the Xerox Technicians in Montana and Alaska were laid off this past Friday with equipment service being turned over to local third party service. Not sure what other area were effected. Xerox did this in the past and it turned out to be a disaster. Eventually taking those outlying area back because of customer dissatisfaction and here we go again.

in the 80s xerox started the psr program, we fixed machines but were not paid what the established csr guys were paid( so they could save money) In the 90s we started with contractors who were led to believe if they were really good they would become full xerox employees with benefits and decoder rings. The contractors were fired (none) hired and we had to pick up the slack. In 2000 they pushed retirement big time followed by buyouts of anyone who had been there awhile. when Allair took over we had working smarter not harder which is code for layoffs for non service but no hiring for service and loss thru attrition. Layoffs(reduction in force) every other year. I took a buyout in 2005 when I couldnt get one day off between march and november even though I had 5 weeks accumulated because they combined teams and the large one had many older techs who picked their weeks first even though oir teams didnt support the same products. My manager was let go a year later and his manager 2 years later.I moved all my retirement and 401 to an independant IRA because I believe Xerox cant manage anything correctly.
i left Xerox 6 years ago, they want me to train third party technician and Black
and white technician on color high volume, but with no incentive for me or a pay grade up
of trainer, so I put in my layoff packet and left with 20 weeks pay. not doing it as they will
take my job after they are trained. , so watch out
outsource technicians? the most common face of the firm??
SB will bail and head a non profit in 9 months. Mental mid-et. Can anyone describe something he uniquely ever did, anywhere? I’m being serious.
This company never seems to learn from previous mistakes ..
SB (Spin Boy) will shine it up as tho he created opportunity for those former Xerox workers by allowing them to grow with the acquiring company.
CareAR will fix it :)
No common sense allowed this is Xerox and they know best.
I have always wondered if they would cut lifelines to lower population areas and focus on large metropolitan areas in this age of reinvention
I wonder if this is a rollout/test area of some kind. Was Montana route based?
If Alaska was route based, and Montana was also, are they starting with route based service being axed?
Alaska has route service. Interesting to find out who took over that. Aka helicopter in rural AK every few months.
Going to need more info here! The entirety of Montana and Alaska? How many people?
To train up third party or to get them acclimated to our system of doing things seems like it didn't happen suddenly but I may be wrong. I feel like all the specialty clearance and badging some of us have for government contractor accounts also would dampen the deal. Third party as in local?
Did anyone know this was coming? We need answers....
