Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Has anyone else had their service record reviewed by HR?

I've been here since it was ITT, Then Exelis, then Harris, and now L3Harris (so far), for over 25 years. This was my first and only job since graduating.
HR has reviewed ALL of my service time with the company including how much sick time I've used year over year, vacation time, PTO, tardiness, OT refusals, everything. They questioned why I was out with COVID more than 3 times in 2 years. ( I had different strains). They asked why I resisted the vaccine too.
When I asked why, they said it was directive from corporate and that there would be a lot of employees being looked at. Has anyone else had this happen? I left the union years ago. According to company policy and the union, I would have to quit and get rehired to go back into the union (if they even hire me) and start over with zero accrued time.
I feel I have no protection.

Unlimited PTO, just don’t use any or you’ll be put on permanent 3rd shift. Maybe get home around 10am every day. Then they want to call you back into work for 1st or 2nd shift when others are out sick..

no. but I’ve heard of ridiculous reasons (typically some nitty company violation that in normal company financial circumstances should be a verbal reprimand).

legally a reason must be given, no matter how small, otherwise wrongful termination lawsuit.

If no reason given, it’s a layoff with severance

Has anyone heard of people getting terminated without a stated reason recently?

25 years through legacy Harris, never heard of something like this.

It’s the other way around -
morale will improve when managers and HR stop acting toxic because of corporate pressures to save costs and fix the cash issues. It’s going to take a long time to get the debt from A.R. and Link 16 to a healthy level unfortunately, so this will continue for the foreseeable future.

my manager here in Clifton told me HR was asking him to provide the most recent PTO I used. he said they were also looking at charge numbers.

You have protection. It is a COVID vaccination. But you resisted it.

How did you get notified that this was happening?

take the severance package if they offer it. make the money last as long as you can while searching for another job. don't think this is anything other than what it looks like. it is.

Under very rare circumstances, former employees have been rehired and rejoined the union. And after they have "bridged their time away" they can get credit for past service.
But this only applies to union members that have been laid off. Once an employee accepts a management position and leaves the union, they can never go back. especially if the person held a supervisory position. This is true in any company with a bargaining unit in place. If your past record is being 'looked at", I would say they are getting ready to get rid of you and they want to make sure they protect themselves from a wrongful termination lawsuit.
I would ask your manager if there is anything to worry about. Otherwise, it looks like you might be forced to leave the nest.
