I am one of those who unfortunately got laid off. Do we need to return monitors and keyboards as well, or only laptops?

I kept them because fck them!
I would keep it until they ask for it. F**k 'em
Whatever you return, keep a written record of exactly what was sent—and when it was received/signed for. Some time after returing my laptop, I got a very nasty message saying I never returned it, with the threat of garnishing my severance. I forwarded the shipment tracker that showed the date and time it arrived at 1515 and I think the name of the person who signed for it. Of course heard nothing following that, not even an apology.
In the past at other companies, i’ve heard that everything is negotiable during a layoff. You can ask to keep your equipment.
When I returned my equipment in person, the IT person told me they primarily care about computers and phones (anything with company info on it). If you have other major electronic items that the company gave you, it’s worth checking with IT, but I don’t think they’d care much about something like a keyboard.
Usually they’d tell you. However I’d clarify this way:
“Hi, can you send me the list of items that need to be returned? I want to make sure not to miss anything” if they reply with a list that doesn’t mention monitors/keyboard then don’t return those
If you could update us on the outcome afterwards that’d be helpful too!
