Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

What happens with your phone plan ?

They are currently paying for it
A hardware refresh was due and I applied for it, I got a new phone (for zero dollars) and the plan was renewed for another two years. I would like to keep the number I have which I ported to Cisco's plan when I joined. I am assuming I will get my number back but am I supposed to take over the deal (bad deal) that they have with the cell phone company ?

Based on what I saw once you end up in a field full of corn saying "can you hear me now"

I was Feb 2024 LR. You can delete the Cisco cert from your iPhone, and all good. I had AT&T and had to establish an account (which took a long time on the phone, and credit checks, etc). Once you have a new AT&T account, then I was able to port the number. After a couple months the phone was also unlocked. Unlimited plans on AT&T are about $55.

If you have a Managed device it can be wiped remotely. Also it will have a root CA cert allowing MIM access to your HTTPS. Get yourself a new device and plan ASAP.

That is fine, I did not expect to have my cell phone bill paid by them after part ways
What I wanted to make sure is that I do not have to take over their plan and to continue to pay till the end of the contract. Since the phone came as a perk from that contract I would be asked to return it or pay it ...unlikely but I wanted to make sure. Being forced to take over the contract was something that it would be possible although in the end it is their deal, badly negotiated

You will need to do a transfer of liability to your own plan with the carrier. MAKE SURE you do this 2 weeks before you leave to make sure there is no issues. It's an easy process, but if you don't you will lose your number.

you get to keep your phone and number but need to pay from your pocket an equivalent plan.
