Kannapolis-based NASCAR team Stewart-Haas Racing detailed layoff numbers in a report surrounding the closure of the team at the end of 2024.
The layoffs were noted in a WARN report filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce on Monday. SHR's closure will result in 323 layoffs, according to the report.
The team's employees were informed of the closure on May 28. Layoffs are scheduled to begin on Nov. 11, one day after the NASCAR Cup Series Championship race at Phoenix Raceway.
SHR employees have attended meetings about the closure, severance, benefits, and release agreements, according to the report.
The team is owned by three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart and Gene Haas. SHR fields four cars in the NASCAR Cup Series and two cars in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Haas will own a dissolved version of the team starting in 2025 under the name Haas Factory Team. The Haas team will feature one car in the Cup Series driven by Cole Custer and two cars in the Xfinity Series driven by Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer.
The new team will have around 90-100 employees. Some of them will be brought over from the current team, according to the report.
