Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel will not fail

Intel is too big, with too many security/defense contracts for the US government to let them fail. The whole point about do the fabs is so that the US doesn't have to rely on foreign chips. If China ever evades Taiwan and Intel is making chips in the US, they will be golden.

Intel and Boeing should just merge, as they are both "too big to fail" and too critical to the defense industry right? Both were former giants and leaders in their industry, now plagued by corrupt and incompetent management, sacrified engineering prowess for that quick buck.

BoeInt is the new name, where the oft delayed products will crash and burn, guaranteed!

Why don’t you assume China invade the US and take over Intel so TSMC is in better position? False assumption to get US government money for your lack of technical abilities.

Too big to fail, just like Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers.

Get over yourselves.
Intel is irrelevant at best.

Microsoft can no longer rely on Intel as a supplier and so you see their massive promotion and support for ARM. In a few years PC CPUs will be fully commoditized with multiple vendors leveraging TSMC.

Best case is that Intel will be like GloFo.
Just a former shell of itself.
Cranking out trailing nodes for low margin auto and government contracts.

Correct, Intel will not outright fail. But it can (and likely will) be a completely unrecognizable company in 5 years. And despite what Pat will try to sell, it won't be for the better.

The U.S. government doesn't care who's name is on the fabs as long as they are keeping up with the current best in class technology. Does the government want X86? Has the government seen anything that would give them confidence that Intel will ever achieve sufficient yield of 18A?

OP, evade means to avoid... If China evades them I doubt Taiwan has much to worry about. China will likely invade Taiwan at some point. For example, China held a military exercise today that encircled the entire island because of comments made by the Taiwanese president.

Intel could handle all the defense contract work in Oregon alone and close/sell everything else.
