Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Volume of Ghost Jobs Growing

We now are seeing 10x the number of fake / ghost job postings in the last few weeks.
What is the rationale behind this?

Boo! Happy Halloween!

That was July. As of August it's Pumpkin Spiced Merry Christmas! Valentine's Day season starts on December 26th.

On linked in, they show number of applicants for a job opening. I often see 100+ applicants. So these jobs may seem ghost since the high competition reduces the chance of getting a positive response. It is a tough job market right now.

I agree there are some ghost jobs out there. I see some jobs listed for months. This odd since there should be many qualified applicants, often including myself.

Of course there is. It’s October and a lot of companies are getting into the Halloween spirit with posting more Ghost Jobs!

Which is why someone posted shortly after the year end earnings call that there were over 70 pages of notifications of intent to fill program managers, software engineers, & data analysts roles w/ multiple openings in the RTP-8 Libby entrance.

Like Cisco can’t find qualified program managers or software engineers in the US to fill those jobs.

Perhaps the upcoming election is a factor?

Yes. Companies all want to pay more taxes. You are clearly a Cisco employee.

This isn't the be all and end all of explanations, but it's a starting point:

Isn’t Cisco an American company? They need to hire Americans.

Now you understand how the H1B scam works. Create tons of fake jobs, say you can’t fill them, then ask for more visas. LR American workers, rinse and repeat.

"the last few weeks"? This has been going on for well over a year, if not two.

What? Not sure what you’re trying to say here.

It is not H1 jobs but want to bring non-Asians with all expose of Cisco hiring practice

It’s a tactic so they can say they attempted to fill a role with Americans before they open H1B requests. It’s a well known hack that companies including Cisco have employed for years.

The are designed to manipulate the H1b system by making it appear as though there are unfilled roles

The job postings are not real, they are for immigrants seeking green cards

They’re actually real positions that are actively interviewing and hiring. The positions have been adjusted to include future needs of the company but every job you see is real. There were also adjustments to the number of Recruiters but it’s relatively minor and those remaining are the cream of the crop; some of the best in the business world

Thank you Cisco HR. How many HR cuts in last LR?

Most recruiters have been laid off. Like other departments, there’s a limited number of staff available to conduct the interviews. Taking a candidate through the interview process is time consuming for the recruiter and the hiring managers. Recruiting doesnt have the same capacity to interview at the volume as before so we have to pick the randomly and hope it’s a good pick.

And FYI job posts are there to collect information. Talent recruiting strategy goes hand in hand with layoff planning. It tells us what the company has available as far as on the job market. This helps us determine how quickly we can find replacement if needed. Also helps determine if we can offer below market salary. Everyone is doing this.

The incumbents in the government need those job postings to be as high as possible so that they can claim the economy is robust and growing. Close back rubbing connections at high levels make all this possible...

Many companies including Cisco have increased job postings to give growth and happy hiring indicators. Thee are just jobs without any funding, hence ghost.

Rationale behind ghosting is to show a healthy front while underneath is bleeding heavy.

Make the economy seem better than it is as they sell off the inflated stock. Classic Pump & Dump.
