Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM's Latest Policy

I was informed my last day would be 10/17. I understand many others are in the same boat. Management, said it was not performance related. But that the organization had changed direction. I needed to find another position. Fortunately, not long afterwards someone from HR asked if I was interested in a position. I obviously said yes and submitted my CV. Only to be told the account team actually did not need anybody ??? So, I found a different High Risk AI related position on the Market Place. A contractor could be hired if not filled. I submitted my CV. Here is an excerpt of the reply received from the opportunity owner: "We can only look at you after the (termination) date and as a new hire applicant." I imagine this true across the board.

Would that mean you’d get to keep your severance? May not be such a bad deal if so…if not I’d question how can you hire me as a new hire but then want to clawback the severance? That would be BS
