From the outside, I thought joining Cisco would be a great move. On the inside, a different story entirely. If I had my time again, would avoid.

I went from making $95k / yr to averaging around $280k / yr for the 8 years I’ve been here (excluding RSW & ESPP). Not bad for a guy who started in his 20’s. So no, I could not regret it. Cisco has allowed me to provide for my family comfortably. But the culture has radically deteriorated from when I started. I used to think I could stay at Cisco for life if they let me. Now I am absolutely ready to step away for the right opportunity.
My regret is not joining. It's for staying too long. I'll leave financially better than 95% of people but ge-z, this place couldn't be any further from what brought me here. Sadly, there is absolutely no hope of it being even remotely close to the industry and career highlight it was once thought of.
Unfortunately, this place makes you lose perspective and you experience the boiling frog syndrome. They've perfected the pychological warfare to su-k as much productivity out of humans as possible, only to discard them in the blink of an eye. Its pretty awful.
Yes it was a mistake. But, dealing with it best I can.
No, but I did leave within 3 years once I felt I was stagnating a little. I still really enjoyed working with the people over there, but growth is important to me.
I regret staying more than 2 years. Cisco is nothing more than a stepping stone.
Don’t get why you all hate it here. I love it and we are family!
I suspect 80% of the pop enjoys their time here and 80% of the other 20% on this board feel desperate. Very normal for most people in tech.
Don't regret joining but I regret not leaving sooner than I did. Still grateful for the 2020 ER though.
Another worthless post from shills guy.
Get a job!
Do you regret making this post ?
Not everyone at Cisco is an id--t ! There are many groups with good leads and managers …. May be 30% !
As long as humans are running tech companies, there will be bias, tribalism and unfairness.
A lot of people stay for a short period of time, then make a wise decision to move on.
