Polaris is basically like that one friend who insists on giving directions but never moves from their couch kind of like the North Star that just sits there doing nothing while the rest of the stars run around it in endless circles eventually going nowhere.
See the detailed reply on the other thread dedicated to the same topic. Long story short, it's the upgrade of old SAP R/3 systems by the new version, SAP S/4 HANA.
I think it is the effort to combine all the different SAP systems from all the different companies into one system.
The amount of stupidity required to set up completely different SAP systems for Upstream, Refining, and Chemicals is just mind boggling.

I’ve asked people working on Polaris so many times what it is. None of them can explain it. Best I can make it is part of the headcount reduction and offshoring cr-p.
