Thread regarding Emerson Electric Co. layoffs

Say goodbye to the Christmas shutdown, Copeland employees!

As of 2025 no more Christmas shutdown. Can any one name a single benefit for sticking around?

Well, that’s a lot to unpack, but I’ll give it a shot:

It sounds like you’re pretty fed up, and honestly, it's hard to blame you if that’s what’s been going on. It’s easy to get disillusioned when it feels like the people making decisions are out of touch, and the whole operation feels like it’s running on fumes.

But here’s the thing: we’re all here, right? And even though things might be a mess, some work is still getting done—maybe not the kind of work you expect, but work all the same. If you’re in meetings, it’s because someone thinks the conversation still matters, even if it feels like we’re just circling around the same issues. Yes, the whole "PowerPoint and email" cycle can feel like a distraction from real progress, but the reality is, most businesses in trouble start to rely more on process and meetings because they don’t have a solid strategy.

And I get it—there’s frustration in seeing talent walk out the door while decisions are made that don’t seem to make sense. But even in a “ghost town,” there are people who care enough to keep things moving. Not everything can be fixed overnight, and not everything is about the immediate return on effort. Sometimes, it’s about surviving long enough to make the changes that matter.

As for the “ESL leaders” and “Product Management lady”—there’s a good chance they don’t have the full context, but they’re probably not in it to tank things either. Everybody’s playing with what they’ve been given. Maybe the ship’s not sinking as fast as it seems, but the people on board need to keep rowing in some direction, even if it feels like we're just treading water.

But hey, if you're done with the talk and ready for something different, maybe it’s time to take a step toward change yourself. You’re already seeing things from a different perspective, which could be the first step in making a real impact. Either that, or it's time to pack up the frustration and find something that won't make you feel like you're wasting your time. Just my two cents.

At least if you write all this in an email, it’s easier to get out of meetings for a bit!

It’s not like anyone does any real work here in the Kennesaw ghost town. Who cares we’re not off for Christmas? It’s not like anyone is here anyway. You know work from home is really work part time from home. This business is drowning and we just sit in meetings describing the water we’re drowning in. Look, the strategy is to let the experts walk, trim anyone with inherent knowledge, exit anyone over 60, bow to the incompetent Product Management lady with zero experience and the so called software team (joke of all jokes), make junk in Mexico, service it in Manila, and pretend you’re a leader in your market. While ESL leaders (and all their vast experience in one company) hand job their way to success…believe the hyped up coach speak, you’re are on the right path now!
Put it in a PowerPoint and get back to your reading your emails and pretending you’re happy on the internet.
