Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Do stocks vest during noticed period?

I got an AI security (cloud, b2b) job with a competitor (that actually does AI). They want me to start as soon as possible. I'm holding out until the November RSU's clear, and the background check at my new job clears so that there are zero conditions on the signed-and-countersigned employment agreement.

I'm concerned that if I give notice Nov 3rd then I might lose out on $50k of stock that vests Nov 13th. I'm getting a 30k signing bonus at the new place, but don't want to miss out on the big payday I've earned. I could give noticed Nov 16th to play it safe, but that might annoy my new employer. Maybe if I hint I'm going to a competitor they will just give me 2 weeks of paid garden leave.

Don't give notice till 2 weeks to join and adjust join date per vesting schedule. If it's too far out just let go of the rsu and negotiate with new company.

Don't give the notice now, get the full vest and then leave. Its OK - say there is a personal commitment and get another week.
