Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Cisco UK Update?

Any update on this? Saw the emails from SW. I was on maternity leave and deliberately stayed away from the stress filled flow of news. Really sorry for everyone who got affected.

Is there any indicator that anyone is aware of regarding target BUs and groups in the UKI ?

I am so out of energy after just having a child. Can’t even think of looking for a job , going through the interview process…

Not true. "at risk" in consultation emails does not mean by default that your position is gone. This is a lie. I have seen enough consultation emails with that phrase in my mailbox during the last 9 years at BDL to know that is not true. As evidence, I am still here

At risk has always meant you are definitely gone and should pack your bags IME. Let's not give UK readers too much optimism here. Drop your work immediately and apply for new jobs, as being notified means your manager and HR has deemed your work to be useless.

The emails say “at risk” and speaking from experience, that does not necessarily mean that you are a gonner.

Word of advice: if you were in maternity leave in the Uk org, then it may not be that hard for the management to figure out who you are. Please be cautious posting here. I have known the UK SE management to go on witch hunts based on what’s posted in this site. They use the HR consultants as enforcers.

All the best for your new young family. Enjoy your ray of sunshine.

As far as I know, all those that are ‘at risk’ have been told.

It would be pretty cold to LR someone on maternity leave but, hey, this is Cisco. Normal ethics do not necessarily apply.

On the other hand, Cisco has managed without you for however long maternity leave is these days…

Congratulations!

I really do hope you are protected from the upcoming LR. I know someone in the US who got laid off after disclosing to her manager that she was pregnant and will go on maternity break in a certain period of time - was hit this month. Qualify of management people at Cisco has become so very caustic and that is even more true in the U.K. theatre. I sincerely hope the U.K. laws protect you from that sort of thing,

All the best .

I'd really hope you'd be off-limit just having being on maternity leave (unless you have done something spectacularly wrong, or are in a terrible team - but even then..)

Sacking a solid long-term employee just after maternity leave just has expensive (very probably loosing) public court case written all over it, and Cisco HR is good at avoid making stupid schoolboy mistakes like that...

A few years down the track it could be a different kettle of fish entirely so don't get too complacent and keep your resume brushed up to date later...

Oh, and congratulations by the way! :-)

Anyone is a target. The waiting game will last 1 month. Good luck to us all.
