The Teamsters Union doesn't have a clue as to what's happening. UPS is using AL to reduce the number of workers needed. The Union has gotten better wages but they are working less hours. Their pensions payout has not increased. A lot of these UPS employees don't care about the customers, they care about themselves. They want to work less than part time hours and want full time pay/benefits. I would like to say that there are some very hard working employees at UPS. UPS should give the pension contributions to the Teamsters Union and let them manage it.
With all the hacking of anything electronic its likely AI and more automation will sink to last choice. Human workers are not hackable and offer steady guarantee of performance.
Heavy automation coming to many hubs. Union positions to be chopped.
UPS is a major player in the air freight industry, will likely see an uptick in business as companies try to figure out ways to get their goods into the country. UPS stock up and workers working, This is a win-win.
The number of closures-consolidations was ballpark 200. Is that still the target? Alot more parcel carriers competing for smaller pieces of the poor economy pie.
Places like Big Wal --The WALLET STEALER are gouging people on groceries( a necessity) and now there is nothing left to support other businesses and have it shipped. Very Greedy just look at the STEALER profits in last several gouging years.
The next thing to come is they'll likely close down their smallest/ least profitable locations.
Volume is down on packages due to poor economy. The Union contract has nothing to do with it.
